The hood emblem says "Super Deluxe". How did Ford know in 1947 that this 2D business coupe would be a super car some 60 years later? Sometimes names are right on target...and timeless. To be fair, there were thousands of Fords that rolled off the assembly line with the "Super Deluxe" designation but to maintain that status decades and generations later takes a little work. This coupe sits on a Malibu Chassis with a rebuilt 350 V8 (complete with new 4 bbl carburetor, new alternator and electric fuel pump) and a 350 column shift transmission. There are just over 5000 miles on the motor and transmission. It has power steering and brakes, front disk brakes, a tilt column, tinted windows, halogen headlights, after-market air conditioning and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. All of which were unheard of in 1947 but are what we expect in the 21st century. After all, we need to b able to drive comfortably in order to enjoy the experience. The original body has been nosed and decked and then decked out with Inferno Red paint, chrome smoothie wheels, dual exhaust and 1950 Mercury tail lights. The interior has been updated and upgraded with leather covered bucket seats (power driver's seat), full carpeting, custom-made door panels with matching rear side panels and complimenting headliner. After-market gauges have been fitted into the classic and classy factory dash. the cavernous trunk is accessible by a remote electronic release located by the gas cap and has been finished with carpet and equipped with an interior light. It is a great car (maybe even a "super" car) with deluxe accommodations; well-suited for a weekend get away, a cross country cruise or a day in the country.
