Sooner or later, all the garages, barns and backyards are going to be emptied of this type of buried treasure. That will be unfortunate but unavoidable as the world moves on. In the meantime, we will just marvel at the cars that pop up from time to time that seem to be frozen in time. If the calendar did not say that the year is 2011, it would be hard to tell that this 1966 suicide door Lincoln Continental is 45 years old. Great body and paint, clean and bright chrome, nearly perfect interior. The story is that it has spent the majority of its life in a climate-controlled environment. The odometer shows less than 45k miles...and so does the carpet, the pedals, and the upholstery (for the most part). Its big (221" long) and heavy (approx. 5200 lbs) but it is anything but cumbersome and graceless. It is just about the epitome of soft-spoken class and elegance--all about comfort and convenience. And when new sold for just over $1 per pound. Aaahhhh...the good ole days...!
Engine: original 462 ci V8 with 4 bbl carburetor, hydraulic lifters and mechanical fuel pump with no modifications (factory specs rate this motor at 340 hp @4600 rpm producing 485 lbs/ft torque @ 2800 rpm, with 10.25:1 compression)

Interior: original cream colored cloth covered bench front and back seats with fold down center arm rests; gold carpet, color matched vinyl, cloth and carpet door panels with wood grain accent. The back seat looks as if it has rarely been sat on and the carpet is in excellent condition. The driver's seat shows wear and there is a tear/fray in the upholstery near the center seam. A typical flaw in a typical spot...
